Deb Gross was elected to fill a vacancy on Pittsburgh City Council in 2013, was elected to a full term in 2015 and was re-elected in 2019. Ampersand was retained to oversee all campaigns, including successfully seeking the Democratic nomination through a highly contested endorsement vote for Democratic Committee members. After winning the race in 2013, the challenge was to turn around to win a contested election by running on a record of accomplishment while having only served one year in office. Both races were won by a 2-to-1 margin.
Ampersand housed the campaign in our offices, oversaw campaign staff, served as fundraiser, developed the campaign plan, oversaw the coordination with the Mayor’s campaign staff, and planned, wrote, and produced the direct mail programs.
